PT6A-42

The PT6A-41 and PT6A-42 turbine engines are medium-sized turboprop aircraft engines. They are a variation of the PT6 Pratt & Whitney Canada engine. Intended use of the PT6A-41 is for the Beechcraft King Air 200/B200 and the Piper Cheyenne III/IIIA airframes. The intended use of the PT6A-42 is for the Beechcraft C-12 HuronF, Beechcraft King Air 200/B200, Blackhawk XP42 King Air 200, StandardAero King Air 200, Blackhawk XP42A C-208 Caravan Series (-42A), and the Piper Meridian airframes. The PT6A-41 and PT6A-42 engines both have a shaft horsepower of 850 shp.

PT6A-41 & PT6A-42 Differences

The -42 had an improved hot section to last longer with better metallurgy and design. The ITT redline for the -41 is 750 degrees celsius. The ITT redline for the -42s is 800 degrees celsius. The PT6A-42s compressor section is also 12 percent larger and gives the max. operating altitude a cabin diff. of 6.5 psi. The PT6A-41 max. operating altitude has a cabin diff. of 6.1 psi.
